African American Heritage Festival

The annual African American Heritage Festival is a celebration of African-American ancestry, with nationally known entertainment and educational exhibits.The festival is scheduled for Friday 4-10pm, Saturday noon-10pm and Sunday noon-9pm in Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Additional times of shows and sound information:

Festival organizers met with some community associations to address them and have modified their musical schedule as a result. The stage is being angled toward Lot A from the far corner of Lot C, directing sound to the MLK ramp instead of Staples and Ridgeley’s Delight.

Music will also end promptly at 9:30PM Saturday and 9:00PM Sunday. This is the first year the festival area will be secured and general admission charged, with reserved tickets for concert.

The 2009 festival hours are:
Friday, July 3 –– 5 p.m. –– 10 p.m.
Saturday, July 4 –– 12 p.m. –– 10 p.m.
Sunday, July 5 –– 12 p.m. –– 9 p.m.

To minimize traffic and encourage use of public transportation, the website recommends travelling by bus or light rail.

Circulator Update
May 4 2009

The council approved the appropriation for the rest of FY 09, so the shuttle program is continuing to move forward. Baltimore City will be receiving the first of 21 buses towards the end of this month.

Baltimore City is planning on a June 10th announcement of the name of the service. Mayor Dixon will make the announcement at 10:30 AM in front of City Hall.

Baltimore City plans on deploying buses as they receive them. The plan is to deploy one route in late August or early September and the rest by the end of September as buses are delievered.

The first leg of the water shuttle began May 4th – between Maritime Park and Tide Point.

New Bill: Lowering Off Leash Fines

On May 12, the City Council will vote on an ordinance proposing lowering fines that currently cost dog-walkers up to $1000 if their dogs are off leash (among many other big fines). Please join more than 1300 city residents who have petitioned in support of lower fines and future plans for designated off-leash sites in neighborhoods around the city.

Get the 311 on Stadium Events!

Ever wondered when parking if you'll get a ticket, wondering if there is a stadium event about which you haven't heard?
Now the Transportation Department is coming to the rescue!
Simply dial 311 (on cell? dial 443-263-2220), punch in option 3 and ask the 311 operator - the operator will have the latest scoop on when events are being enforced as stadium events (usually 20k projected attendance).
